With a passion for cultivating musical talent, Joshua Baskin is an accomplished band director known for building strong and competitive programs in Texas. His journey in music began as a student at Hendrickson High School, where he was part of the marching band that set a high standard by advancing to the UIL State Marching Band Contest in 2005 and 2007, earning 5th place in finals on both occasions. Joshua further honed his craft through his collegiate studies at Blinn College and Texas Tech University, performing with the esteemed Symphonic Wind Ensemble at the 2013 TMEA Convention.
Following his graduation in 2014, Joshua dedicated seven years as an assistant band director in West Columbia, TX, before taking on the role of Director of Bands at Danbury ISD. During his two years at Danbury ,the marching band successfully advanced to the Area Marching competition and the program earned consecutive Sweepstakes awards in 2022 and 2023, showcasing his consistent ability to achieve top-tier results.Â
For the past two years Joshua has been the Band Director at Glen Rose Junior High in Glen Rose, TX, and is excited to bring his years of experience to the Whitney ISD Band program.
